I suffer from aches and pain in my joints and muscles. Can you recommend anything to bring relief?
Last week I told you about the Avesta Collagen Drink which I highly recommend for long-term use for joint health. This week I am going to talk about a really good joint cream that can bring instant relief.
I have always been a great believer in the healing and pain relieving properties of Arnica. This is a plant that contains a variety of compounds which demonstrate soothing, anti-inflammatory, astringent and healing properties.
Historically Arnica has been used as an external preparation to treat a number of conditions including:
- Aching, stiff muscles - After exercise
- Backache, lumbago, sciatica
- Bruising
- Neuralgia
- Rheumatic joints
- Sprains
- Varicose ulcers

There are very many topical creams and gels on the market that contain Arnica. However the best I have ever come across (and one that had a very loyal fan-base of customers when I had my health food shops) is a product from Germany called ARNICA EXTRA (or PROFELAN® as it is widely known over there and where it is a household name). ARNICA EXTRA (PROFELAN®) contains 20% Arnica tincture, which is a far greater concentration than other Arnica creams and gels on the market. The Arnica used is sourced from the yellow flowers of Arnica Montana, a plant found growing in the mountainous regions of Europe. To ensure product quality, and to assist with conservation projects, the Arnica flowers are obtained through an ethical conservation programme.
Together with the effects of Arnica, the effect of this massage cream is enhanced by its specially developed natural base. This pleasant smelling, non-greasy, base stimulates full absorption of the Arnica. The cream also contains vitamins A, E and C which help to repair, nourish and moisturise the skin. Zinc oxide is also included to make the cream smooth and easy to apply. It also helps to protect the skin. Peppermint oil is added to provide a cooling effect with a pleasant and refreshing fragrance.
